Healthy bones are the foundations of healthy bodies. A variety of factors, including breast cancer and some of its treatments, can put our bone health at risk. By understanding your risk factors for osteoporosis and fractures, you can take action to manage your risk through a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Risa Kagan

Dr. Kagan is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, UCSF. After many years in private practice in Berkeley CA, she became a founding member of the Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) and practiced gynecology and clinical research with the Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation. She is now a menopause consultant for SEBMG. She is a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) certified Menopause Practitioner (NCMP) and is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (CCD).  She specializes in gynecology, with a special focus on menopause related health issues, bone and female sexual health, and female cancer survivorship.

Dr. Jennifer Ligibel

Jennifer A. Ligibel, MD, FASCO, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Senior Physician at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). She is also the Director of the Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living and the Director of the Center for Faculty Well-Being at DFCI. Dr. Ligibel’s research interests focus on the impact of lifestyle factors, such as physical activity and body weight, on breast cancer risk and outcomes.
