American Bone Health has closed. However, on October 1, 2023, we joined forces with the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) so that BHOF could continue offering all of the important programs and services created by American Bone Health. Please visit www.bonehealthandosteoporosis.
Legacy gifts give donors the opportunity to make a larger charitable donation while providing a stable funding source for American Bone Health.
You have many options to choose from, some of which might enhance your immediate financial security and/or that of your loved ones.
Endowments are named gifts that are invested in perpetuity. The annual interest income from an endowment then supports specific programs and needs at American Bone Health. Endowments are established through outright gifts, a will, insurance or retirement policies, trusts and other legacy gifts.
Charitable remainder trusts allow you to transfer assets into an irrevocable trust that will provide you and or your beneficiaries with fixed percentage payments for life, or for a set period of time. Upon termination of the trust, the remaining assets are distributed to American Bone Health to be used for the purpose specified by the donor.
With a charitable annuity trust, the donor transfers assets to American Bone Health in exchange for a guaranteed, fixed annuity payment to them or another beneficiary for life. Upon the death of the donor, American Bone Health receives the full amount of the initial gift to use as specified in the agreement.
Your financial advisor or attorney may wish to use the following language when making a bequest: “I give, devise, and bequeath American Bone Health, a nonprofit organization with the federal tax id 93-1022954, located at 4208 Six Forks Road, Suite 1000, Raleigh, NC 27609, the sum of $_______ (or portion of the estate) to be used for general purposes.”
Please also complete the American Bone Health Legacy Gift Intention Form when you’ve finalized your plans so we can document your wishes.
As with any decision involving your assets, we recommend that you seek the advice of your financial advisor or attorney when considering a legacy gift.
Thank you again for your generosity and support of our mission to teach people how to build and keep strong and healthy bones for life with practical and up-to-date information and resources to engage, educate and empower them to prevent bone loss, osteoporosis and fractures.
