YOU KNOW ABOUT DXA...
A DXA scan is the gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis
and your risk of breaking bones. DXA gives you a T-score
that measures your bone mineral density, or bone quantity.
American Bone Health has closed. However, on October 1, 2023, we joined forces with the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) so that BHOF could continue offering all of the important programs and services created by American Bone Health. Please visit www.bonehealthandosteoporosis.
A DXA scan is the gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis
and your risk of breaking bones. DXA gives you a T-score
that measures your bone mineral density, or bone quantity.
New technology called Trabecular Bone Score (TBS) takes a closer look at the DXA scan. By analyzing the structure of your spine bones, TBS measures your bone quality.
By knowing your bone quality as well as your bone quantity, your health care provider can help you make better decisions for your bone health.

Health care providers say DXA + TBS fine-tunes diagnosis, provides insight for deciding on treatment options, and helps patients make more informed choices.
More than 450 testing centers in the United States offer TBS along with DXA scans. If you have already had a DXA scan and would like to follow up with TBS, manufacturers recommend you go to the same testing center for another scan.
